Mahomet-Seymour defeats Effingham on Senior Night

Three Mahomet-Seymour seniors scored in double figures on Saturday (Feb. 4) and helped the Bulldogs to a 61-44 victory at home over Effingham in the M-S Senior Night game.
Jake Waldinger hit a team-high 11 points, the fourth time in the past five games he has been the top Bulldog scorer.
Wyatt Bohm posted a monster double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down a season team-high 17 rebounds. Adam Dyer also tallied 10 points.
The other M-S seniors are Dayten Eisenmann, Byron Lynch and Carter Selk. Each of the six seniors played at least nine minutes in the Apollo Conference contest.
M-S produced assists on 22 of the team’s 23 field goals. Bohm (five) Dyer (four), Lynch (three) and Waldinger (three) were the team assist leaders.
Eisenmann, Selk and Waldinger all grabbed five rebounds, helping M-S to a 41-29 edge on the boards.
Trey Peters and Finn Randolph each scored eight points.
M-S led, 12-10, after one quarter and 33-23 at halftime.
The triumph over Effingham enabled the Bulldogs to beat a team they had lost to earlier in the season. In December, M-S lost by six points on the road.
On Thursday (Feb. 2), four players scored in double figures as M-S snapped a three-game losing streak with a 68-60 win at Charleston.
Waldinger led the Bulldogs with 17 points. Eisenmann totaled 12 points. Contributing 10 points apiece were Bohm and Peters.
Peters hauled down a team-high nine rebounds. Bohm and Waldinger each cleared five rebounds.
Randolph and Waldinger each distributed five assists.
M-S led 18-10 after one quarter and 30-18 at halftime.
In the fourth quarter, the two Apollo Conference schools combined to score 53 points. Charleston doubled its point total with a 30-point final-quarter spree. M-S, which led by 15 points entering the last eight minutes, tallied 23 points.
The Bulldogs (10-14) return to action on Tuesday (Feb. 7) at Urbana.
