Bulldogs open Apollo Conference season with win over Mattoon

Adam Dyer came off the bench to score a game-high 14 points on Thursday (Dec. 1) as the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball team opened Apollo Conference play with a narrow 53-51 triumph at Mattoon.
Dyer also cleared five rebounds.
Trey Peters posted the team’s first double-double of the season, matching points and rebounds with 10 of each.
Byron Lynch notched 12 points and Jake Waldinger contributed seven points.
Carter Selk recorded a team-high four assists.
In their home-opener on Saturday (Dec. 3), M-S suffered a 76-51 loss to Mount Zion.
The Bulldogs were within seven points (47-40) entering the final quarter.
Wyatt Bohm recorded a team-high and a season-high 16 points to lead M-S. Joining him in double figures were Lynch (12 points) and Peters (11 points).
Bohm hauled down eight rebounds and Peters captured six. Dyer and Waldinger each distributed two assists.
M-S (2-4 overall) returns to action on Tuesday (Dec. 6) at home against Charleston.
