Claybrooke and Hennesy place in top 25 at Mattoon

Two Mahomet-Seymour golfers placed among the top 25 individuals in a two-day, 40-team boys’ golf tournament at Mattoon.
Reis Claybrooke had 18-hole rounds of 70 and 79. His 149 earned him a fourth-place tie.
Kelton Hennesy compiled rounds of 77 and 86. His 163 enabled him to end in a tie for 24th place.
Three other Bulldogs posted scores on both days of the event.
Blake Harvey had 86-83—169, Leif Olson had 88-82–170 and Parker Clements had 77-94—171.
M-S’ team composite of 640 earned the school a fourth-place finish.
The other team leaders were Effingham St. Anthony (613), Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin (619) and Edwardsville (630).
M-S returns to action on Monday (Sept. 12) in the Champaign County Meet at Lincolnshire Fields Country Club.
On Thursday (Sept. 8), Brogan Hennesy was the team medalist for the Mahomet-Seymour junior varsity golf team, which placed second in a three-school varsity meet at the Charleston Country Club.
Hennesy carded a 40, one shot ahead of teammates Riley Dowers and Cole Thrasher.
Other M-S scores were: Carter Henrikson (46), Jake Rothlisberger (49) and Carson Drinkwalter (51).
Charleston won the meet (150), followed by the Bulldogs (168) and Effingham (173).
