Mahomet-Seymour places second at home track meet

The Bulldogs placed second on Tuesday (April 26) in a six-school girls’ track and field meet in Mahomet.
Mount Zion was first (207 points). M-S registered 116 points.
M-S had three event winners.
Sophomore Ava Boyd led a trio of Bulldogs to the top three spots in the 800 meters (2 minutes, 32.53 seconds).
Boyd was followed by Chloe Allen (2:34.42) and Elizabeth Sims (2:36.30).
Freshman Kendyl Petro was victorious in the discus (97 feet, 7 inches), an event where teammate Grace Rodebaugh was eighth (77 feet, 2 inches).
In the triple jump, M-S senior Cece Abramson took first (32 feet,5 inches). Teammate Abi Weiss was seventh (28 feet, 5 inches).
The Bulldogs produced runner-up finishes from two relays.
The 1,600-meter unit of Allen, Sims, Boyd and Weiss was timed in 4:42.19.
The 3,200 pairing of Callie Jansen, Emma Frazier, Emily Bednar and Morgan Waisath ended in 11:8.41.
M-S entered a second 3,200 relay and it placed fourth. The runners were Lauren Bednar, Gabby Reeves, Kaile Jeffers and Weiss. Their time was 12:10.61.
The Bulldogs had four placers in the 1,600 meters and three in the 400 meters.
The 1,600 competitors finished consecutively, starting with third-place Emily Bednar (6:00.93). She was followed by Jansen (6:01.68), Waisath (6:19.22) and Lauren Bednar (6:41.86).
In the 400 meters, Ariana Lingard was fourth (108.27), Karlie Fuoss was sixth (1:11.36) and Kara Carney was eighth (1:11.82).
Lauren Burr captured third place in both sprint races. Her 100-meter time was 13.38 seconds and her 200-meter time was 27.87 seconds.
Teammate Amaya Francom was eighth in the 100 meters (14.07 seconds).
Chloe Bundren placed third in the 3,200 meters (12:32.50).
Francom was sixth in the 300 hurdles (56.35) and Abramson was eighth (1:00.10).
Rodebaugh added a third-place effort in the shot put (29 feet, 2 inches) and a fifth in the high jump (4 feet, 7 inches).
Lucy Heckman was seventh in the high jump (4 feet, 5 inches) and Petro collected an eighth-place finish in the shot put (27 feet, 4 inches).
Burr placed third in the long jump (14 feet, 1 inch) and teammate Fuoss was fifth (13 feet, 5 inches).
Fuoss was also fifth in the pole vault (8 feet, 7 inches) and Abramson was sixth (also 8 feet, 7 inches).
M-S returns to action on Friday (April 29) in the 44th Urbana Invitational.
