The Bulldogs enjoyed a two-day celebration for Senior Night. M-S played host to Effingham on Tuesday (May 25) and built a 7-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning when rains forced a suspension of the game.
The teams returned to the field on Wednesday (May 26) and M-S finished off the 10-3 conquest.
The team’s five seniors were all contributors.
Nicholas Schiaretti earned his first varsity victory. He worked three innings, yielding two hits and no walks while fanning four batters. He started ahead in the count to eight of the 11 Effingham batters he faced.
Four other seniors were in the batting order and each one produced at least one hit: Zac Carr, Nate McFall, Andrew Norman and Will Sampson.
The highlight of the game was Sampson and Carr knocking back-to-back home runs. The home runs were the second of the spring for both players. Both players delivered three RBI apiece for the game.
Sampson delivered a game-high three hits. Carr had two hits. McFall and Norman each totaled one hit. Sampson scored three runs. Carr and Mateo Casillas each finished with two runs scored.
