Athlete of the Week: Luke Koller
Standing at 6’9”, Mahomet-Seymour Junior Luke Koller has led the Bulldogs in rebounding for nine consecutive games.
Despite a loss to Effingham, Koller began to find his rhythm with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
As Mahomet-Seymour rebounded, beating No. 10 Lincoln, Koller posted his first double-double of the season with a 10-point, 11-rebound performance. He also contributed a team-high 5 assists.
Head Coach Ryan Bosch noticed a change in Koller, telling Mahomet Daily’s Fred Kroner, Koller was “playing more like we expected at the start of the season. He played so well in the middle of Lincoln’s zone that it changed the entire complex of the game.”
Koller led the Bulldogs on the board, grabbing seven rebounds in a win over Taylorville. As the Bulldogs came back victorious against Effingham in their second meeting, Koller’s 13 rebounds and 6 points were key.
Mahomet-Seymour picked up three more wins against Mount Zion, Taylorville and Mattoon where Koller amassed 33 points and 31 rebounds.
In a recent loss to Teutopolis, Koller led his teammates with 14 points, including connecting with all four of his free throw attempts. He also grabbed 7 rebounds.
