Mahomet-Seymour comes from behind to defeat Mount Zion

Durbin Thomas had the hot hand on Monday (March 1) as the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball team completed a come-from-behind win at home over Mount Zion.
The Bulldogs swept the season series from their Apollo Conference rivals, 46-43. The Bulldogs captured a 12-point win the first time the schools played.
M-S trailed by five points at halftime and by four points entering the fourth quarter.
Thomas scored a career-high 29 points. She hit 23 of those in the second half, including 12 in the last eight minutes.
After making four three-point shots in her first nine games of the season, Thomas has drained nine three-pointers in her last two games. Against Mount Zion, she made five three-pointers.
Nichole Taylor scored all five of her points in the fourth quarter for M-S. Taylor and Thomas were the team’s co-leaders in rebounding with six apiece.
Cayla Koerner scored six points, Savannah Orgeron had four and Emma Clements two against Mount Zion.
M-S (7-4) returns to action on Thursday (March 4) at Taylorville.
