Bulldogs rebound with win over Unity

Mahomet-Seymour’s eighth-grade boys’ basketball team followed up on an overtime loss with its most dominating win of the season.
M-S dropped a 39-36 decision on Monday (Feb. 22) at Champaign Franklin, but responded on Thursday (Feb. 25) with a 49-13 triumph at home over Tolono Unity.
Against Franklin, Luke Dyer totaled 12 points and Trey Peters added 11.
Franklin made a three-pointer in the final 20 seconds to create the overtime session.
Peters tallied 16 points against Unity. Dyer added eight points. Miles Woolsey and Mason Orton each chipped in with four points.
“Great game for us after a tough loss at Franklin,” M-S coach Doug Ingold said. “We had a great third quarter (scoring 18 points). We were able to force some turnovers and get some transition buckets.”
On Saturday (Feb. 27), the Bulldogs hammered Charleston, 44-2.
Ethan Esker, Nate Hale and Peters all scored six points for M-S in the win at home.
Dyer added five points and Brody Back chipped in with four points.
M-S (7-2) returns to action on Thursday (March 4) at home against Paris Crestwood.
