Since the second half of the Apollo Conference girls’ basketball schedule has started, there has been one consistent element for Mahomet-Seymour’s team.
The opponents the Bulldogs lost to during the first round, they have beaten in the rematch. The team M-S had defeated earlier, it lost to the second time.
The loss took place on Thursday (Feb. 25) at Effingham, 48-42. When the teams played in Mahomet, the Bulldogs pulled off an 11-point win.
In the Thursday game, Savannah Orgeron tallied 13 points and Nichole Taylor bucketed 10 points. Durbin Thomas added nine points.
The teams were tied, 9-9, after one quarter, but Effingham created a 28-17 halftime lead. Even though the Bulldogs held the scoring lead in the second half, they were unable to complete the comeback.
Taylor handled a team-high six rebounds. Orgeron and Thomas each had five rebounds.
On Saturday (Feb. 27) against Lincoln, a team M-S lost to by 10 points nine days earlier, the Bulldogs opened up a 13-9 first-quarter lead and went on to secure a 60-47 victory.
