Mahomet-Seymour Cross Country secures 8 of top 10 spots at Mount Zion

The Bulldogs secured eight of the top 10 places in a non-scored boys’ cross-country meet on Thursday (Sept. 10) at Mount Zion for a three-school meet that also included Monticello.
M-S’ Corban McMinn was the runner-up in the 35-person boys’ 2-mile race. His time was 13 minutes and 39 seconds. He was 16 seconds behind the winner.
Other team leaders were: Beau Back (fourth in 14:14), Tucker Loven (fifth in 14:15), Jack VanHorrn (sixth in 14:15), Hawke O’Malley (seventh in 14:16), Tate Bode (eighth in 14:21), Gideon Hayter (ninth in 14:24) and Camden Snodsmith (10th in 14:28).
There was also a 2-mile race for additional runners where the boys and girls competed together.
M-S’ top 10 finishers were Aiden Bergman (first in 16:24), Seth Christensen (third in 17:25), Cash Bryan (sixth in 18:06), Allanah Smith (seventh in 18:15) and Izaiah Brotherton (10th in 18:42). Bergman beat the runner-up by 46 seconds.
On Saturday (Sept. 12), one Bulldog registered a top-10 performance at Champaign St. Matthew.
Sean Dady-Dreher was seventh in 12:50.
Five of his teammates wound up among the top 20 in a race with 46 finishers.
They were: Mason Turngren (14th in 14:16), Will Slezak (15th in 14:18), Jack Van Hoorn (16th in 14:28), Owen Mahannah (18th in 14:43) and Will Anderson (19th in 14:47).
M-S returns to action on Monday (Sept. 21) at Mount Zion.
