Strong showing in two meets for Mahomet-Seymour Track and Field

The Bulldogs participated at two sites on Saturday and – like the boys’ team – emerged with champions at each location.
The M-S 3,200-meter relay took first in the Apollo Conference meet, at Mount Zion, clocking a time of 10:47.91. They won by 18.64 seconds.
The relay runners were Klein Powell, Emily Bednar, Ella Scott and Olivia Bunting.
At the First to the Finish meet at the UI Armory, Mara Pletcher was victorious in the pole vault (12 feet) and Elizabeth Sims was the runaway winner in the 3,200. Her time of 11 minutes, 52.76 seconds gave her a margin of victory of 9.83 seconds.
M-S had two runner-up finishes in the First to the Finish meet.
Grace Rodebaugh jumped 5-1 and was the runner-up in the high jump. Shaelin Ruzich cleared 10-6 and was second to Pletcher in the pole vault.
The Bulldogs had a third pole-vaulter with a high placement. Cece Abramson was fourth (10-0).
M-S put together the fourth-best 1,600-meter relay. The foursome of Pletcher, Amaya Francom, Chloe Allen and Ruzich were timed in 4:29.96.
Ruzich ended seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.73 seconds). Allen took seventh in the 800 meters (2:36.56).
Two other Bulldogs were placers in field events. Gwen Tee was 14th in the shot put (26-8 ¾) and Francom was 15th in the triple jump (23-4).
Abramson finished 18th in the 60-meter hurdles (11.80).
In the sprint races, M-S had multiple placers.
Ireland Walsh was 16th in the 200 meters (29.08) and Ariana Lingard was 21st in the same race (29.75).
In the 60-meter dash, Lingard was 20th (8.65), followed by Walsh (23rd in 8.69) and Rodebaugh (24th in 8.70).
Meanwhile at the Apollo Conference meet, the Bulldogs had top 10 placements from 12 individuals or relays in addition to the triumphant 1,600 unit.
Lainie Shoaf was second overall in the pole vault (8-2 ¾).
Powell captured fourth in the 800 meters (2:45.14) and teammate Callie Jansen was sixth at the same distance (2:48.26).
Excelling in the 1,600 meters were Bednar (fifth in 6:03.19) and Scott (seventh in 6:05.56).
Two other relays earned top finishes.
The 1,600 foursome of Bunting, Jansen, Riley Watson and Powell placed sixth (4:46.77).
The 800 unit of Mallory Carr, Ema Shinker, Watson and Karlie Fuoss ended seventh (2:03.81).
Shinker secured sixth in the 60 meters (9.02) as well as 12th in the long jump (12-2 ¼).
Watson was seventh in the triple jump (27-3 ½).
Carr finished fourth in the 400 (1:08.65).
In the 200 meters, three M-S athletes competed. Fuoss was sixth (30.23), Shoaf was 11th (32.07) and Paris Cebulski was 17th (40.69).
Two other M-S field event athletes earned places.
Carr was 10th in the long jump (13-7) and Hannah Hofbauer was 13th in the long jump (12-1).
No team scores were kept.
