Buchanan, Renshaw, Casillas, Granadino and Decker lead Bulldogs at Red Schmitt Invitational

Five Bulldogs placed among the top nine in their respective weight classes at the two-day Red Schmitt Invitational, which ended on Saturday in Granite City.
Seth Buchanan (285 pounds) won five of his seven matches (four by pin) and placed third, helping M-S to a 15th-place finish in the 24-school event.
Daniel Renshaw (220 pounds) won three of his seven tournament bouts and was fifth. He had one pin.
Mateo Casillas (195 pounds) had a 6-3 tourney record (with three pins) and also ended in fifth place.
Gage Granadino (152 pounds) had a 6-2 record at Granite City (with two pins) and was seventh.
Chance Decker (145 pounds) was 4-2 and placed ninth. He posted two pins.
Seven other squad members competed. They were: Colton Crowley (10th at 182 pounds), Noah Schnepper (10th at 126 pounds), Logan Petro (13th at 138 pounds), Payton Ragona (16th at 106 pounds), Peyton Myers (18th at 152 pounds), Hayden Nelson (21st at 160 pounds) and Brennan Houser (24th at 145 pounds).
All three of Crowley’s wins at the tournament were by pin.
As a team, M-S compiled 144 points.
The Bulldogs (9-0 in dual meets) return to action on Saturday (Jan. 4) with multiple duals at the fieldhouse.
