FairVote to host Ranked Choice Voting presentation on Sept. 15
On September 15th, from 3:00-4:15, FairVote, an electoral reform nonprofit, will be hosting a presentation and discussion at the Mahomet Library. The topic will be ranked-choice voting (RCV) and how it can fix our democracy. The event will be run by Ben Chapman, the Illinois Organizer for FairVote who formerly led the Illinoisans for Ranked Choice Voting movement.
“Ranked Choice Voting can increase civility, improve voter expression, and make elections fairer, all while discouraging mudslinging. The 2020 presidential election is a perfect example of why we need RCV,” said Chapman. “This event will detail why Illinois needs RCV and how we can get it.”
Chapman has previously authored a commentary in the Mahomet Daily about the need for RCV. The Facebook page for the event can be found here.
