The ninth annual Run for the Library will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 2 at the Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve. Instead of hosting a 5K Run/Walk the weekend before Thanksgiving, organizers decided to move the event to spring, adding a 10K Run for runners hoping to train for the Christie Clinic Illlinois Marathon, which will be held April 28-30.
Proceeds from the event are split between the Friends for the Library and the Mahomet Rotary Club.
The Friends of the Library help the Mahomet Public Library offer programs for children and youth, support the library’s endowment fund and provide funding for equipment and technology purchases. The Mahomet Rotary supports an array of local and international causes, including Mahomet Area Youth Club, Mahomet Parks and Recreation andMahomet-Seymour schools.
Early registration for the Run for the Library will end on March 12. Participants will pay $25 before the 12th and $30 after the 12th. Youth registration (ages 11 and under) is $10. All registrations received before March 12 will receive a free t-shirt.
Timing will be provided by Second Wind Running Club of Champaign. Awards will be presented to the top three overall runners as well as the top three runners in each age group.
