Students in Margaret Miller and Chuck Durst’s fourth grade classes held a “Shakes and Quakes” today at Lincoln Trail. The “Shakes and Quakes” was part of a special science project the classes worked on with University of Illinois professor Bill Spencer, two visiting faculty from China, a graduate student and an undergraduate student, all at the University of Illinois. Students built structures out of Legos, and U of I students, and faculty helped Mahomet-Seymour students test the structures on an electronically controlled platform that simulated an earthquake.
Additionally, structures were judged in several categories: Most Beautiful Building, Most Profitable Building, Tallest Building, Best Presentation, Strongest Design in each class and Strongest Design Overall.
