2017 Mahomet Parks and Recreation Turkey Trot Huge Success
No time, No Awards, Just Fun! This year, over 500 participants participated for the 5th annual event, the biggest turnout to date!
On behalf of the Village of Mahomet’s Park and Recreation Department, we are thankful for the generosity of our event sponsors and participants for supporting this community event.
Specifically, we proudly thank our event sponsors; Fisher National Bank, Champaign County Forest Preserve District, Matt Difanis Re/Max Realty, Farm Credit of Illinois, Yoyo’s Frozen Yogurt and Walk Chiropractic and Acupuncture.
Thanks to the generosity of our community Mahomet Parks and Recreation collected 631 pounds of food +$1,500! Proceeds of the event are fundraised in support of Mahomet Helping Hands and MPRD’s youth scholarship fund. MPRD’s scholarship fund provides financial support to those in need, allowing more kids to participate in our offerings.
“On a day that we give thanks, it seems appropriate to have an event that gives back to our community”, says Dan Waldinger, Director of Parks and Recreation. “We are so grateful to live in a giving, caring community.”
The Mahomet Parks and Recreation Youth Scholarship Program allows kids with financial challenges in our community to participate in recreation programming.
Mahomet Helping Hands is a non-profit organization that provides food and clothing assistance to people living within the Mahomet-Seymour school district.
