Harvest Fest at Museum of the Grand Prairie Saturday

The morning air has a bit of a bite and flannel can be seen while on a walk.

Fall nostalgia is something most people look forward to. And the Museum of the Grand Praire will help visitors build memories during their annual Harvest Fest from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

*Of course, pumpkins will be available for those who pre-register.

You can grab a pumpkin and a paintbrush to create spooky or silly pumpkin faces. Or you can take part in the ancient tradition of carving a pumpkin.

Just as 19th century people made masks, there will be a mask making station where you can design your own. Before combines, each ear of corn had to be shelled by hand, so the Museum needs help shucking corn with their 1870’s corn sheller.

Best of all, after peeling pieces of apples, you can press the apple for cider then take a hayride through the Lake of the Woods Forest with your friends.

Storyteller Kim Sheahan will join the party at 5 p.m. with family-friendly spooky stories.

The event costs $3 per person, children under 2 are free. Registered guests will receive one pumpkin per family or guests are invited to bring their own.
