Bridle Brook has formed a team to walk in Champaign-Urbana’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s on September 12. Each year more than 600 communities nationwide participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, making it the largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care.

Bridle Brook is turning to the Mahomet community to help raise funds for their team through a bake sale from 1 to 3 p.m. and  5 to 7 p.m. this Friday. Bridle Brook management has made baked goods and local businesses have also donated items for this event.

Christmas ornaments made by Bridle Brook residents will also be available at the Sangamon River Music Festival August 27 and 28.

All proceeds will go to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Bridle Brook also invites the Mahomet community to walk with the team on September 12 or to donate to the cause online.

Director of Memory Care at Bridle Brook Katie Clements also said Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients also benefit from visitors year round.

“Come in and bring your pet or your kids,” she said. “They love pets and kids. It really makes them feel like they are part of the community and not just in the Alzheimer’s unit.”
