Nazarene Church to host Rhythm Dukes Saturday

The Mahomet Church of the Nazarene invites the Mahomet community to join them for a night of winter fun as the Rhythm Dukes perform soft rock favorites beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Looking for ways to reach and provide for the Mahomet community, the congregation decided to offer entertainment that was outside of typical church realm, but could be fun for the whole family to enjoy on a winter January night.

Deb Braunig, leader at the Mahomet Church of the Nazarene and owner of Kaffee in IGA, remembered the Rhythm Dukes from the Sangamon River Music Festival, but invited the group to perform at the church when a member of the band visited Kaffee.

A $5 donation is required at the door, but Braunig hopes visitors will RSVP by calling the church at (217) 586-4434.  Pies from Emily Kroners Lucky Moon Bakery will be available alongside other desserts. With an RSVP, the church can make sure there are enough refreshments.

Proceeds from the event will benefit three different ministries. Braunig said money will be donated to the Jesus Film Project, Missionary Ventures and Open Doors.

Doors will open at 5 p.m.
