MSJHS headed into IESA Regional

Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School finished its regular season in wrestling on Saturday (Feb. 12) by winning three of five dual meets at East Peoria.

The Bulldogs had entrants in 17 weight classes and each wrestler won at least one match.

Finishing the day with unblemished 5-0 records were Justus Vrona (95 pounds), Talon Decker (112 pounds) and Noah Frank (155 pounds).

Decker pinned all five of his opponents. Frank registered three pins and Vrona had one pin.

Going 4-1 for the day for M-S were Marco Casillas (135 pounds) and Alex Lang (275 pounds). All four of Casillas’ wins were by pin.

Winding up with 3-2 records for the day were Gideon Hayter (75 pounds), Auggie Gaudio (85 pounds), Colton McClure (100 pounds), Corey Bell (119 pounds), Peyton Mitchem (126 pounds), Grant Arbuckle (167 pounds) and Noah Daniels (215 pounds).

McClure and Bell finished three matches with pins. Mitchem posted two pins. Hayter, Gaudio, Arbuckle and Daniels collected one pin apiece.

Winning twice was Wyatt Bell (80 pounds).

Teammates with one win were Liam Noonam (90 pounds), Beau Back (105 pounds), Joshua Craig (145 pounds) and Phillip Daniels (185 pounds). Back and Craig earned their wins with pins.

For the day, M-S wrestlers compiled a cumulative 50-34 record, with 27 of the wins by pin.

The Bulldogs finish the dual-meet portion of their schedule with a 17-4 overall record.

M-S returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 26) at home when it hosts an IESA Regional Tournament.
