MSHS Class of 98 gathers for 20-year reunion

Press Release- The Mahomet-Seymour High School Class of 1998 gathered on July 30 to celebrate at their 20-year high school reunion.
The reunion weekend began with a tour of the renovated high school with Mahomet-Seymour’s Athletic Director, Matt Hensley, as their guide. The pay phones and portico are no longer there, but the memories remain.
At seeing the newly renovated library, classmate Brandyn O’Dell jokingly asked, “Where is the card catalog?” The class of ’98 is uniquely positioned generationally, having had an “old-fashioned” childhood while adapting to and embracing technology as young adults.
The celebration continued at JT Walker’s where many more memories and stories were shared.
Saturday’s festivities were held at Elk’s Lake Pavilion at the Lake of the Woods where the class of ’98 honored their fellow classmates that have passed away with a moment of silence. Those classmates include Chance Musick, Ryan Pittman, Loren Hinkle, Aaron Easter, Josh Tellez, and Matt Fox.
The evening also included a group photo and reminiscing over old yearbooks and scrapbooks. The class of ’98 is spread out over the entire country and even internationally as far away as South Korea and New Zealand.
Many were able to attend, but those that were not there were missed.
Plans for the 25-year reunion are already underway and many are making plans to informally gather yearly during Homecoming Weekend.
The class of ’98 would like to thank those that have gone before them including parents, teachers, administrators and coaches and would urge younger classes to stay connected to one another, because you can’t hug Facebook. Go Bulldogs!
