Mahomet Farmer’s Market moves to Wednesdays beginning in June

By Isabella Zarate

This summer the Mahomet Market is returning to Main Street. Starting June 1 and running till August 31, vendors will set up in the green space at the corner of Main and Jefferson. Booths will be open every Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m.

For the 2022 season, the Mahomet Area Chamber of Commerce really wants to focus on their mission of educating, inspiring, and nourishing the local community. That being said, this year’s market will look a bit different than previous years. The 2022 season will be all about local makers, bakers, and growers.

Vendor and market committee member, Jessica Trefzger, shared how “The mission is most important to us because these makers are all very. . .passionate about helping their own communities thrive and that really is what the heart of a small community is. . .its people”

In addition to the new concept of locally made, the market also plans to incorporate some different fun elements within each week. Every Wednesday vendors and community members are encouraged to participate in the weekly theme. The themes are scheduled as follows:

June 1st: Meet the Market Vendors-Grand Opening!

June 8th: Celebrating National Best Friends Day

June 15th: Celebrating Fathers & Father Figures Week

June 22nd: Law Enforcement/First Responder Week

June 29th: Patriot Week

July 6th: Pets Week

July 13th: Christmas in July Week

July 20th: Nature Week

July 27th: Mahomet Market Sponsors Week (Subway & Premier Print Group)

August 3rd: Vouchers Week

August 10th: Carnival Week

August 17th: Young Entrepreneurs Week

August 24th: Wellness Week

August 31st: Grand Finale!

The market only lasts three months and will be over before you know it. So don’t miss your chance – grab your friends and family and support the local community.

Furthermore, the Mahomet Chamber of Commerce is still seeking local makers, bakers, and growers to become vendors. If you are passionate about educating, nourishing, and inspiring the community, this might be the perfect opportunity for you.

Vendors can register with early bird pricing before May 13. Options to register for the whole season, 7 weeks, at $100 is available or the weekly rate stands at $10. After May 13 the weekly rate goes up to $15.
