M-S has a 19-10 season record and will try to secure its fourth successive 20-win season on Tuesday at 7 p.m. when it plays a Class 3A regional semifinal game at home.
The Bulldogs will take on the winner of the first-round game between Mattoon and Rantoul.
Of the five schools assigned to the M-S Regional, the Bulldogs are the top seed.
Junior Abbie Velazquez hit six shots on Thursday in the sectional finals at Lincoln, but didn’t qualify for state in the Class 3A three-point shooting contest.
She was the lone Bulldog sectional competitor from the four teammates who originally entered the postseason event at the regional.
It took nine makes (out of 15 attempts) in order to advance from sectional to the state.
