Mahomet-Seymour Shines at Rantoul Meet: Relay Team and Field Athletes Take Top Honors

Mahomet-Seymour’s 400-meter relay team cruised to victory on Tuesday (April 23) in a four-school girls’ track and field meet at Rantoul, and M-S field event performers Kelsie Fuoss and Claire Johnson were also victorious.

The winning relay unit featured Kara Carney, Lauren Burr, Evelyn Hillard and Madalyn Marx. They were timed in 50.48 seconds.

Fuoss was the pole vault winner (10 feet, 5 inches) and Johnson was triumphant in the triple jump (28 feet, 2 inches).

Three individuals and one relay placed in the runner-up position for the Bulldogs.

Burr ran second in the 100 meters (13.30 seconds), Adelyn Boyd was second in the 100-meter hurdles (19.05 seconds) and Jaci Kellenberger was the triple jump runner-up (26 feet, 4 inches).

The school’s 800-meter relay foursome of Selma Tilton, Kira Smith, Mollie Schifo and Isabelle Scheele took second as well. Their cumulative time was 1:58.95.

Nine other M-S athletes garnered top-five finishes individually: Carney (third in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.14 seconds), Alyssa Gray (third in the long jump at 14 feet, 1 inch), Hannah Martin (third in the high jump at 4 feet, 4 inches), Emily Anand (fourth in the 1,600 meters in 5:44.12), Chloe Bundren (fourth in the 800 meters in 2:32.34), Kendyl Petro (fourth in the discus at 84 feet, 2 inches), Delia Ann Stout (fourth in the pole vault at 6 feet, 5 inches), Tilton (fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 2090 seconds) and Emma Frazier (fifth in the 800 meters in 2:36.25).

The M-S 1,600-meter relay, consisting of Morgan Waisath, Bundren, Frazier and Taylor Mills, wound up in third place with a time of 4:32.70.

In the team chase, the meet champion was Centennial (174 points), followed by M-S (135 points), Champaign Central (128 points) and Rantoul (84 points).

The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday (April 26) in the 46th Urbana Invitational.
