Mahomet-Seymour shuts out visiting Urbana

Cayla Koerner blasted six goals and assisted on another on Monday (April 4) as the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ soccer team shutout visiting Urbana, 9-0.

The Bulldogs led, 7-0, at intermission.

Grace Lietz, Amelia Osman and Lauren Schnepper each hit one goal for the Bulldogs.

Brea Benson and Osman posted two assists apiece. Registering one assist were Kamryn Frost, Delaney King and Schnepper.

Junior goalkeeper Elle Hubble stopped all of the Tigers’ shots.

On Tuesday (April 5) at Rantoul, M-S shut out Rantoul, 8-0, scoring four goals each half.

Koerner led the way with four goals and four assists.

Benson hit two goals while King and Schnepper each tallied one.

Registering one assist apiece were Benson, Abby Bunting, Lietz and Schnepper.

M-S (4-0) has outscored its first three opponents, 31-1. Mount  Zion is  6-2. M-S is 1-0 in Apollo Conference action. The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday (April 7) at home against Charleston.

After beating Mount Zion, the Bulldogs’ junior varsity team has a 5-1 record.
