The Museum of the Grand Prairie will host the Hot Iron String Band during their Summer Garden Concert from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 11.
The Hot Iron String Band is a four-piece acoustic ensemble featuring Samuel Payne on guitar, Jermey Kouch on Banjo, Dustin Norder on mandolin, and Nolan Lee on upright bass. Their inspiration is drawn from the hard-driving back-beat pulse of Bill Monroe’s bluegrass and from the lively, boot-tapping bounce of an old-time fiddle tune, the infectious swing of Django Reindhart’s gypsy jazz to the lonesome moan of a honkey tonk blues. And just like the roots from which their musical vision has grown — steeped in the age-old tradition of breaking the rules — they do it just a little bit different.
