Orgeron’s 17-points not enough to pull Bulldogs over Effingham

Savannah Orgeron scored a career-high 17 points on Thursday, but M-S suffered a 54-48 Apollo Conference loss at Effingham.

Orgeron also hit a new career-high with five three-point field goals.

The 5-foot-10 freshman totaled 46 points and six three-pointers in her first 16 high school games, but has put up 59 points and 11 three-pointers in her last five games. She is the team’s top scorer during the recent five-game stretch.

Makayla Rosenbery tallied 12 points and raised her team-high three-point total to 24 by sinking two more treys.

Nichole Taylor grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and scored seven points. She blocked two shots.

Rosenbery collected six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Thomas ended with six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Orgeron totaled five rebounds and Cayla Koerner had four rebounds.

M-S is 12-9 overall and 3-6 in Apollo Conference games. The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday at Centennial.
