Snowflakes to be hidden at Champaign County Forest Preserves

Snowflakes aren’t abundant in East Central Illinois, but that no longer means that Champaign County residents will miss out on the winter fun.

Beginning Jan. 21, the Champaign County Forest Preserve will have 30 decorated snowflakes, decorated with winter fun facts, scattered throughout their parks, hidden for hikers to find along trails.

The “CCFPD Snowflake Search” will run through February.

The forest preserve district used wood from down forest trees to make the snowflakes.

Guests are asked to find as many snowflakes as they can, to take a picture of the finds and share them on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #CCFPDSnowflakeSearch.

They also invite residents to follow the CCFPD, Museum of the Grand Prairie, and

Homer Lake Interpretive Center Facebook pages, as well as The CCFPD Snowflake Search Facebook Event page to learn more about the winter season and  discover clues to help find these stunningly painted snowflake tree cookies.
